The honest cost picture
Let us be straight about the RER: it really is the cheapest option for a single, light traveller. There is no direct line, though. You take RER B from CDG into Paris, change onto RER A, and ride out to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, which means paying a combined ticket per adult. A fixed-fare private taxi carries up to three people for one price, so the moment there are two or more of you the maths starts to shift.
The tipping point is three passengers
Put three adults on the RER and you are paying three sets of tickets — level with, or above, one fixed-fare car that also carries all the luggage and drops you at your hotel door.
