Charles de Gaulle to Gare du Nord at a glance
Gare du Nord sits in the 10th arrondissement on the northern edge of central Paris, about 25 km from Charles de Gaulle airport by road. It is the Paris terminal for the Eurostar to London and for trains to northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands, so the CDG to Gare du Nord trip is one of the most common connections in the city. The good news: it is also one of the easiest.

CDG to Gare du Nord by RER B, step by step
- Find the station. Aéroport CDG 2 station is in the middle of Terminal 2; Aéroport CDG 1 serves Terminals 1 and 3 via the free CDGVAL shuttle train. Follow signs for “Paris by train” or RER B.
- Buy a Paris Region airport ticket. It covers the trip into Paris (14 euros per adult in 2026) and is sold on a Navigo Easy card or in the official transport apps.
- Board any RER B towards Paris. All of them stop at Gare du Nord; some run non-stop from the airport and save a few minutes.
- Get off at Gare du Nord, after about 30–35 minutes. The RER platforms are on the lower levels; follow the signs up to the main hall and the Eurostar terminal.
The RER B is a busy commuter line. Between about 07:00–09:30 and 16:30–19:30 trains can be crowded, which is hard work with large suitcases. It is also subject to planned engineering works, mostly at weekends and late evenings, when buses may replace trains on part of the route. Check the traffic information on the RATP or Île-de-France Mobilités app before you set off, and keep valuables close: the line has a reputation for pickpockets.
Charles de Gaulle airport to Gare du Nord by taxi or private transfer
A car takes about 35–50 minutes on the A1 in normal traffic and can take over an hour on weekday evenings. Official Paris taxis wait at the signed ranks outside each terminal and charge the regulated flat rate for Paris; Gare du Nord is on the Right Bank, so the Right Bank rate applies. A pre-booked private transfer goes a step further: the driver tracks your flight, meets you in arrivals with a name sign, loads your bags and drops you at the station entrance, with child seats fitted free on request. Your fare is fixed per vehicle and shown in the booking tool before you confirm, including any night supplement. See our taxi CDG Paris service for how it works.
Timing your Eurostar connection from CDG
The tight part of this trip is not the journey into Paris but the Eurostar check-in at the other end. Eurostar ticket gates close 30 minutes before departure for Standard and Plus, and 15 minutes before for Premier, and after that you will not be allowed to board. Before the gates you also pass security screening and French and UK border checks, which can queue at busy times, so Eurostar asks passengers to arrive well ahead of the cut-off rather than just before it.
- Landing to Eurostar departure: allow at least three hours, and more for a non-EU passport, a long-haul arrival or a peak-season weekend.
- At CDG: passport control and baggage typically take 30–60 minutes, sometimes longer.
- Into Paris: 30–35 minutes on the RER B or 35–50 minutes by car, plus the walk to the train or the car.
- At Gare du Nord: aim to reach the Eurostar terminal, upstairs from the main hall, at least 60–90 minutes before departure.
- Separate tickets: a flight and a Eurostar on separate bookings are not protected connections. If your flight is late, you may need to rebook the train, so a flexible Eurostar fare is worth considering.
Luggage tips for CDG to Gare du Nord
- RER gates are narrow. Large cases fit through the wider gates marked for luggage; keep your ticket ready.
- Gare du Nord is big and busy. Moving from the RER levels to the Eurostar mezzanine involves escalators; lifts exist but can be slow.
- Eurostar luggage rules apply once you check in, so pack to the allowance before you leave the airport.
- With children or several large bags, a car to the station entrance removes the stairs and the crowded train.
